INFORMATION SHEET

 

                             PURPOSE:          To improve our community, state, and nation:
To become better persons through Personal Development and
Leadership Training  programs and through community service;
To experience the fellowship shared among our members.

 

                                   GOALS:          To give the people of Nebraska the opportunity to become involved in their local communities, and in doing so, making their community a better place in which to live.

 

                MEMBERSHIP:          Membership is open for any person over the age of 18. 

 

                   LEADERSHIP:          The state organization is governed by the State Board, comprised of the President, two Vice Presidents as well as various programming personnel.

 

          PROGRAMMING:          Programming includes Community Development and Personal Development

 

         COMMUNITY     Programming includes the support through educational and fundraising activities for Aid to Foster Children, Make-a-Wish, and awareness through Governmental Affairs.

 

              PERSONAL     Personal Goal Setting, Better Communications, Leadership Training,               Team Building, Handling Personal Finances, Handling Stress, Family Time, Effective Speaking, Effective Writing, Effective Listening, Women in General and S.T.E.P. are among the areas offered.

 

       STATE MEETINGS:          Conventions are held each quarter of the Women of Today year, with a Local Officers Training School held at Annual Convention in May.

 

STATE NEWSLETTER:             The Gavel, published monthly, is distributed to all members.

 

    LOCAL ACTIVITIES:          Local chapter activities are varied within each community.  Fundraising and installation of park equipment, baby-sitting clinics, community Halloween parties, Senior Citizen activities, food baskets for the needy, style shows, craft fairs, and Easter egg hunts are just some of these activities.

 

                   AFFILIATION:          The Nebraska Women of Today are affiliated with the
United States Women of Today.

 

                                   CREED:              We believe that faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human       endeavor.

That for every wrong, there is a right,
for every foe, there is a friend.

That listening to all, then searching for truth,
and learning to lose makes winning sweeter.

For we work with our hands as well as our hearts.

And we know so well the work that is done
when WOMEN OF TODAY work together as ONE!
